28th April - New! Family Open day at Burngate
New for 2012 is the family open day at Burngate on Saturday 28th April.
Come and join us at the Centre for our first family open day at the Centre - whatever the weather.
We will be open from 9.30am - 4.30pm and will have lots to do for the whole family -
- Free children's art activities
- Free stone carving tasters
- Free tasters of art and craft courses
- Demonstrations
Our tearoom will be open - delicious homemade cakes, cream teas and refreshments.
Car parking available

Easter Craft Fair at Burngate Stone Carving Centre
6th - 9th April
Open daily from 10.00am to 4.30pm

Stone carving courses for all the family over the weekend:

Freeform carving - Sunday 8th and Monday 9th 9.30am - 4.30pm
Family have-a-go carving - £20 per adult & £12.50 per child (6 - 13yrs)
Freeform carving - £50 per person per day

2012 Stone Carving Courses
We have lots of new courses and dates in 2012 for stone carving courses at Burngate Stone Carving Centre. Whatever your interest - relief, sculpture, lettering, architectural and masonry - we have something to suit everyone.
The Centre promotes traditional methods of stone carving and you can try your hand at this ancient art in an inspirational location in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Our courses are suitable for everyone from 6 to 80yrs+.
We are extremely lucky to have a variety of tutors with years of experience in working with stone and teaching. You can find more information about our tutors in our tutor section on the website. Whether you are a beginner or looking for advanced skills, we have a tutor and a course to suit you.

Exhibition & gallery space available
Burngate Stone Carving Centre in the Isle of Purbeck is open all year and it's unique workshop space is ideal for exhibitions, gallery space and meetings. The main workshop has a woodburner and kitchen facilities are on site and available to use for any event.
The space can be hired all year - special rates for art and craft exhibitions.

Can't find a stone carving course to suit you?
We are running a variety of stone carving courses throughout the year at the Centre on a regular basis but if you can't find a time or course to suit you, please contact the Centre and we can arrange something to fit in with your schedule - mornings, afternoons or evenings (subject to tutor availability).

Burngate Stone Carving Centre - Tearoom
Burngate has a new tearoom for this year and offers traditional Dorset Apple Cake, cream teas (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks and a wide range of snacks.
Come and visit us at the Centre and enjoy a cream tea whilst taking in the outstanding views of the Jurassic coast.
The tearoom is open daily between 10am and 2pm during the week (sometimes a little later if the weather is nice!) and 10am - 4pm at the weekends.
The Centre also has a range of local, homemade chutneys and marmalades on offer. Or you can browse our exhibition of sculpture and other local art and craft - including art, ceramics, wool and textiles.
